LG have announced plans to show off their latest TV technology at the IFA show in Berlin, which runs from the 3rd to the 8th of September – and there will be some world-beating products on display, according to OLED-display via Seoul.
First on the list, it’s a 31-inch OLED TV – more than twice the size of the current LG set on the market, the EL9500. The OLED set will just be a prototype, so there’s no word on price at the moment, but if you bear in mind the EL9500 comes with a tag of £1700 for a mere 15-inch display then you might be able to have a rough guess. It will certainly be out of my price range if Mrs R has anything to do with it.
Next up a huge 3DTV. 3D may have caught on in the cinema, but manufacturers are having a hard time pushing it on the home consumer. A combination of excessive cost and lack of content seems to have held off the hordes from investing, but if LG’s 72-inch 3DTV makes it to market, we might start to see people getting that all-encompassing experience from the comfort of their own homes.
Finally, “the world’s thinnest LCD TV, measuring up at just 7mm thick. That’s thinner than the width of my wedding ring; thinner than my mobile phone and actually thinner than the CD case that I’m currently using as a coaster. I’m impressed…….
