The next time you fire up your PC and have a trawl through the internet, watch out if you decide to post a derogatory comment on Youtube – a lawyer could be watching…….

You probably haven’t heard of Carla Franklin. According to the Associated Press, she’s a former model, actor and a Business School graduate who once appeared in a little-seen, small-budget film.

That little-seen educational film was posted onto Youtube (it has now been removed) without authorization, with a rather unflattering description of Ms Franklin’s sexual behaviour from an anonymous poster. Or, to put it in plainer English, some sad nob-head called her a whore.

As a result, Ms Franklin is upset. In fact, Ms Franklin is so upset, that she has requested that the US law courts issue a court order with the intention of forcing Google to reveal the identity of the poster.

Despite spending a good deal of time in the traditionally thick-skinned careers of modelling and acting, and now forging a slightly more successful career as a business consultant, Ms Franklin has “suffered damages in the form of distress and mental anguish”.

Allegedly, Ms Franklin may know the identity of the poster; Mr Fish told the New York Post that she had “fairly good idea who was doing this,” but “we want to make 100 percent sure before we file suit.”

We’ll keep you updated with what happens, but for now, it is really hard to make any kind of comment on this for fear of reprisals from either side.

For example…….

We couldn’t possibly suggest that Ms Franklin was making a mountain out of a molehill (interestingly, one of the video clips features her advising students not to “take things so seriously”).

We couldn’t possibly suggest that Ms Franklin was yearning again for the limelight she once craved.

We couldn’t possibly suggest that Ms Franklin has one eye on the fact that fashion model Liskula Cohen filed papers against blogger Rosemary Port for $3m for writing “I would have to say the first-place award for ‘Skankiest in NYC’ would have to go to Liskula Gentile Cohen,”, simultaneously calling into question Cohen’s sexual demeanour and cleanliness. “”I’m tall, I’m blond, I’ve been modeling for many years, and people get jealous,” Cohen rather modestly said afterwards.

Finally, we couldn’t possibly suggest to Ms Franklin that she really ought to grow up, toughen up, forget about it, understand that you can’t be liked by everyone and that everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. If all you’re worried about is some lonely idiot posting remarks about you on the internet, then you’re doing a lot better than the rest of us…………
