A few new iPhone stories have popped up recently that are likely to have some truth within them………..

Supplying the bare bones, the Wall Street Journal reports of a leaked story that Apple are actually planning two new iPhones, one for the current exclusive deal-holder in the US, AT&T, with another designed for rival network Verizon.

The story is actually pretty empty of any other info, so it has been left to a growing number of blogs and other websites to speculate more – the best of which comes from John Gruber of Daring Fireball.

So, adding meat to the skeletal frame, Gruber describes a list of specs that the WSJ failed to dig up, including a 960×640 double-resolution screen (which is a massive 4 x the current iPhone res), an A4-family CPU system-on-a-chip., multi-tasking and a front facing video camera for video conferencing.

Just for the record, Gruber has been spot on with a lot of his previous iPhone predictions, although the only surprise amongst his current crop of predictions is the screen resolution – the rest are fairly standard “wants” from iPhone fans anyway.

Tech site Endgadget have also been tipped off with a possible release date of Tuesday, June 22nd June and also a name – the iPhone HD.

More iPhone 4G news with substance as and when we get it…………..
