E-readers are everywhere at the moment – and I can guarantee it will continue that way for the next year, at least. But could Nintendo be the latest company to dip their toes into e-books?

According to Bloomberg’s Business Week, they will be.

Nintendo are set to launch the latest version of the Nintendo DS – the DSi XL – in the UK on the 5th March and alongside the almost-double-sized screen and new batch of games, we can also expect the device to double as an e-book reader.

The Kyoto company is set to release a title in June – “100 Classic Books” for a reasonable sounding $19.99, which will contain work from William Shakespeare, Thomas Hardy, Jules Verne and Jane Austen.

Business Week report that Nintendo executive vice-president of sales and marketing, Cammie Dunaway said in an interview, “It’s not really about trying to take on the e-book market -it’s just one more way to enjoy your device”.
