Well, that didn’t take long, did it? A report from HardMac describes how “a source” claims that Apple have ceased production on all Core i5 and i7 27″ Apple iMacs, due to issues that have plagued the computer since launch.

Stories from all over the web have told of problems with flickering, or yellow screens, or both and  Apple are allegedly stopping production until they’ve been sorted.

It’s not been an easy start to life for the mammoth iMac; a story from Boy Genius via Endgadget tells of the iMacs being poorly packaged and delivered in “jigsaw” form – completely smashed and useless, much like myself at the end of a Friday night.

It’s only been a couple of weeks since I managed to get hold of and review the latest 27″ Apple iMac and although I concluded that it was no “game-changer”, it was still a mighty fine machine. It belonged to – and still does – a friend of mine and so far he’s not experienced any of these problems – not yet, anyway.

If you find yourself in the same boat, the probability is that there’ll be some kind of remote firmware update, but if Apple find the problem is more than a biggy – rumours of a recall are likely to increase.

As ever – we’ll keep them peeled and if there is a recall – you can just console yourself with the untroubled 21.5″ version of the iMac.

Got yourself a 27″ Apple iMac? Finding problems or just smooth sailing? Let us know by leaving your comments………
